The expansion of this hospitality facility, which occupies a mid-19th-century mixed-use building with prominent vertical development near the S. Maria Novella in Florence, on the one side fosters a reminder of history, with the frescoed ceilings of some rooms and the breathtaking views of Florence and on the other it celebrates the moments of “discreet” design. The result is a structure in which guests can find all the comforts associated with staying in a luxury city-hotel: from the travertine-clad entrance to the rooms, architecture and design match, giving shape to essential, livable yet rich in refined details environments. The historic building has also brought absolute diversity of cut between the individual rooms, naturally giving each one its own history, its own identity, though united by the architect’s desire to create environments with a sophisticated mix of art and design.
