Artistic creativity and craftsmanship are often the strongest elements in interior design projects that do not want to rely on pre-written codes and mass-produced products, but intend to focus on customization according to space, function and type of user. An existing restaurant in the historical center of Arezzo has been transformed into a restaurant dedicated to fusion cuisine. Saffron, or saffron, inspired the project with its name. The focus is on the material, left rough, with surface textures in evidence. The furnishings and finishes, with the exception of lighting fixtures and seating, are the result of careful craftsmanship: chestnut wood was chosen to custom mould the furniture and tables. On the walls, given the lack of natural light and the presence of niches, the colour scheme sought to veer towards brightness. The decorative solutions were then customized, one with a white cement effect that had been formworked and torn to evoke an old wall, and another with a rough grey cement effect to create a richly nuanced texture. In the succession of rooms, the space thus appears rarefied and luminous, marked only by a few sculptural elements with a strong identity and by scenographic wall backdrops whose texture is highlighted by light and shadow.
